Day 2 — How AI Can Extract Clear Requirements from Customers

Day 2 — How AI Can Extract Clear Requirements from Customers

Customers rarely provide perfect requirements.

They may provide:

Emails
Excel files
Process documents
Meeting notes
Visio diagrams
Existing system documentation
EDI specifications
API specifications
Screenshots
Voice discussions

The BA can use AI to convert this information into a structured requirement model.

For example:

Customer statement:

“We need faster order processing.”

AI can help the BA identify possible questions:

What is the current processing time?
What is the expected processing time?
Which order types are affected?
What is the current transaction volume?
Is real-time processing required?
What happens during failures?
What SLA is expected?
Which downstream systems are impacted?

The important point:

AI should not convert vague requirements directly into solutions.
It should help the BA discover the questions required to make the requirement measurable.
